Story

This series was inspired by a dream. These beautiful sterling silver earrings showcase the wondrous color of clear or translucent stones. They are unique in their ability to make the color pop. You’ll receive complement after complement on these beauties because the stones come alive with light. There are 4 different stones available to choose from, Amethyst, Carnelian, Citrine, and Garnet. Specify your color choice in the option dropdown. Due to their expense there is a slightly greater cost to the Amethyst and Citrine. The Dream I was walking along a very high ivy covered wall which stretched as far as I could see in both directions. I needed to get to the other side of the wall, the feeling was not dire but compelling in that it would be right or best if I were on the other side. I could not climb the wall so began to walk the length in hopes of finding a way through. The ivy was dense yet after I had walked for some time a spark of beautiful yellow light caught my eye through the foliage. As I investigated the rich yellow light I discovered it to be sunlight streaming through a stained glass window mounted in a wooden door. When I opened the door and moved to the other side I felt joy, comfort, and rightness. Were it not for the light shining through the yellow glass I would never have found the door. The door is known globally as a symbol of moving into something different, of change and newness. As a jewelry designer I wanted to share that experience through the medium of jewelry. Thus the door is a sheet of sterling silver tapering from ¼ inch at the top out to 5/8 inch at the bottom and the window is represented by a beautiful colorful translucent stone of 7 millimeters. There is something deeply compelling about the rich, clean color of a natural crystal cut into a cabochon shape. I love the thought of the earrings representing the transition into new opportunity with the glowing- colored stone beckoning one to the essential, the other side, the new place. The design is intended to showcase the delightful colors of natural translucent stones coupled with the shine of undulating highly polished silver. I developed a setting method which allows maximum light to pass through the stone to showcase their color. The stones seem to glow. The hole whose edge is curled outward toward the front and the stone is fitted into the opening from behind. Then from behind a triangular piece of wire is pressed against the stone to hold it into place. This triangle adds an interesting design element to the back of the earrings. Amethyst. This Amethyst is a luscious purple. These stones are thought to bestow stability, inner strength, invigoration and peace. It transforms energy into positive, loving energy. It provides insight into the actualized self in order to facilitate change towards the ultimate state of perfection. Carnelian. This is a reddish-orange deeply colored stone believed to enhance creativity and courage. Additionally, some have said that it brings good luck, the right mate, and protection. Aqua Chalcedony. This delicate aqua blue stone is a lovely light blue. Ware it to enhance calm , balance, centeredness, inner knowledge, communication. Rose Quartz. A beautiful light pink. Rose Quartz emits a calming energy, which can remove negativity and reinstate loving and gentle forces of self-love. Provides calmness, clarity and restores the mind to harmony after chaotic or crisis situations. It is known as the "stone of gentle love", bringing peacefulness and calm to relationships. Green Onyx. Pure green, stoplight colored. Onyx gives strength. It promotes vigor, steadfastness and stamina. Imparts self-confidence, helping you to be at ease in your surroundings. Green onyx is associated with the heart chakra. Blue Onyx. If blue is a favorite color of yours then you'll love this rich Egyptian blue stone. Onyx banishes grief, enhances self-control and stimulates the power of wise decision-making. It encourages happiness and good fortune. Other stones may be available upon request.

Specifications

Each earring measures 3/4 inch square. The colored stone is cut in a round cabochon shape almost 1/2 inch across. Because of the pocket formed from the back to hold the stone the sheet of silver undulates. The ear post is 3/8 inch long and the extra large ear nuts are ¼ inch across. These earrings designed to be of a perfect weight for comfort and beauty.

The Metal

The silver pieces are made with a tarnish resistant sterling silver alloy formulated with the element Germanium to provide a stunning snow white color.
